Internal Referrals
Internal referrals can be used to capture a near-term opportunity (work could occur within the next 12 months) that you’ve discussed with a client and the timing is right to loop in one of our service line team members.
Adding an Internal Referral
Each of these options allows you to enter a referral in ABLE:
Select the ADD REFERRAL button in the top navigation bar
-OR-
The green Add Referral button on the Referrals Page

First, make sure to distinguish between a Regular referral and an Internal referral. Both types are referrals to staff within Brady Martz, but these referrals are submitted differently depending on which type they are:

- A Regular referral is a core service (tax or assurance) referral.
- An Internal referral is a referral to a service line.
To send an Internal referral:

- Select the the Internal checkbox next to the Outbound referral option.
- Service Line / Service Line Member* - this is who you are giving the referral to. Select the Service Line first and then the Service Line Member.
- Company / Contact Being Referred* - this is the Client (company and contact) that you are referring. Note: a contact record must exist on the client (company) record in order for the client to show up in this list.
- Referral Owner* - this is who is giving the referral. If you are entering your own referral, you would select ‘Me’. If you are entering this referral on behalf of someone else, choose their name.
- Description* - provide information about the referral in the description to give the service line team member enough details to work with.
- Created Date - this is the date that you sent the referral. The field defaults to the current date, but you can backdate if needed.
- Expected to Close By - this is an estimation of when you would expect the the referral / deal to close.
- Won/Lost Date - if you are documenting a referral that has already been won or lost, populate the date here.
- Status of Referral* - choose the current status of the referral
- Estimated Referral Value* - this is an estimate of the amount of the referral.
- AUM - if this value is AUM, select the ‘Is this AUM’ checkbox. The fee will automatically calculate
To send a Regular referral:

- Select the Incoming radio button at the top of the form.
- Deal Name/Description - enter a name for the referral under Deal Name and add a brief description in the Description field if you are able to.
- Deal Lead - enter the name of the person you’re sending the referral to.
- Other Involved Firm Members - enter the names of anyone else (including yourself) that you’d like to include in the referral.
- Referred/Referred By - select the Yes radio button and put your name (listed as a contact for the Brady Martz Referrals company) in the Referred By dropdown.
- Associated Company - Enter the name of the company associated with the referral. You can add a new company here as well by typing the company name in the dropdown box.
- Status - generally “Pending” is the status to choose when first entering the referral, but there are also options of Won/Suspended/Cancelled/Lost/Declined to choose from.
- Created Date - this will default to the current date, but can be changed if the referral originated from an earlier date.
- All Other Fields are optional, but please fill out the form as completely as possible.
Once the internal referral has been added, the firm member you selected to send the referral to will receive an email notification.
